Timing shifts a little each year with Cape weather — treat this as a seasonal guide and call us if you’re not sure what your yard needs right now.
Early spring — typically March into April, once the snow is gone and the ground firms up. Booking in March is smart, since cleanup slots fill quickly once the weather turns. A spring cleanup clears winter debris, cuts back perennials, and preps your beds for the season.
Most Cape towns put mandatory outdoor watering restrictions in place starting May 1, and they tighten or ease with drought conditions through the season. The rules vary by town, so check your town's current schedule before you water.
September is the prime window. Warm soil and cooler nights give new grass the best chance to establish before winter. Overseeding or hydroseeding in early fall fills in thin spots and thickens the lawn for spring.
Before the first hard freeze — usually late October into November on the Cape. Blowing out the lines keeps water from freezing and cracking your pipes and fittings over the winter.
Fall, roughly September through October, is ideal — cooler soil helps roots establish before winter without summer heat stress. Spring is the next best option.
